Talk to Claude Code in Arabic
Explain the whole task in your own words, and DanDin types it into the Claude Code prompt. You check it, and you send it.
Yes, you can talk to Claude Code in Arabic, in your terminal and in an editor like VS Code. Put the cursor in the Claude Code prompt, hold the start key, describe the task, and let go. DanDin pastes the request into the prompt and never presses Enter, so you read it before Claude Code starts working. Claude Code has its own dictation, /voice, but the language list on Anthropic’s page has no Arabic, and a language that is not on the list falls back to English.

An example in Claude Code
Asking Claude Code for a page, with Translate to English on
You say
أبي صفحة تسجيل دخول فيها إيميل وكلمة مرور ولو غلط المستخدم ثلاث مرات قفّل الحساب ربع ساعة
DanDin types
I want a login page with an email and password. If the user enters the wrong credentials three times, lock the account for fifteen minutes.
Claude Code’s /voice or DanDin?
Claude Code has its own dictation: you turn it on with /voice and talk while holding Space. Here is what Anthropic’s own pages say about it, next to what DanDin does:
| DanDin | Claude Code /voice | |
|---|---|---|
| Arabic | Arabic and English, even in one sentence | Not on its list of 20 dictation languages [1] |
| If your language is not on the list | Works out the language of each sentence, with Arabic + English as the default mode | It warns you, then falls back to English [2] |
| The request for Arabic | Built for Arabic first | Closed on 26 August 2026 as inactive, and Arabic was not added [3] |
| How you sign in | A DanDin account, however you sign in to Claude Code | Needs a Claude.ai account, and does not work when you use an API key directly [4] |
| Cost | Free for 2,000 words a week, then Pro | Free: it does not use your Claude messages or tokens [5] |
| Sending | Never presses Enter | Waits for Enter, unless you turn on auto submit [6] |
If you talk to Claude Code in English or another language on its list, and you sign in with a Claude.ai account, /voice is free and already there: use it. If you want to explain in Arabic, mix Arabic and English, or have the same key in your terminal and every other app, DanDin is built for that.
Where these facts come from
Every cell in the second column is taken from that company’s own page. Here is the text as we read it, the link, and the day we read it.
[1] Anthropic: Voice dictation in Claude Code, the language list (20 languages; the word Arabic is not on it)
Supported dictation languages: Czech (cs), Danish (da), Dutch (nl), English (en), ... Turkish (tr), Ukrainian (uk)
[2] The same page, changing the dictation language
If your `language` setting is not in the supported list, `/voice` warns you on enable and falls back to English for dictation.
[3] A request in the Claude Code repo on GitHub, closed by a bot as inactive (Not planned)
Add Arabic language support to /voice dictation

[4] The same page, requirements
A Claude.ai account: the speech-to-text service is only available when you authenticate with one, and is not available when Claude Code is configured to use an Anthropic API key directly, ...
[5] The same page, requirements
Transcription does not consume Claude messages or tokens and does not count toward the limits shown in `/usage`.
[6] The same page, hold to record
By default, when you release the key, Claude Code inserts the transcript and waits for you to press `Enter`.
Good to know in Claude Code
- If Secure Keyboard Entry is on in your Mac terminal, macOS blocks every paste. DanDin tells you and the text is not lost, and you can turn it off from the terminal’s menu.
- DanDin never presses Enter, so the request only reaches Claude Code when you send it.
- On a Mac, terminals and code editors count as AI tools, so your Arabic speech is written as a clear instruction: steps one per line, file names and commands spelled exactly.
- A function name you only say out loud is written as plain words, and Claude Code finds the real one in your project. DanDin never makes up a name.
- It needs the internet, and there is no phone app.
Common questions
Does Claude Code understand Arabic speech?
Its own dictation, /voice, does not support Arabic, according to Anthropic’s page (read 19 October 2026): the list has 20 languages, and any other language falls back to English. DanDin writes your Arabic speech into the prompt as text, or as English if you turn on Translate.
How do I talk to Claude Code in Arabic?
Click in the Claude Code prompt, hold the start key (Fn on a Mac, Ctrl + Win on Windows), explain the task in your own words, and let go. The request is typed into the prompt, and you press Enter.
Can I speak Arabic and send the request in English?
Yes. Move your pointer over the small DanDin pill, click the gear, and turn on Translate to English. Then you speak Arabic, and the request lands in Claude Code in English.
Do I need to turn /voice off?
No. /voice starts when you hold Space, and DanDin starts with a different key (Fn or Ctrl + Win). Just use one of them at a time.
