Tell Claude, in your words
A long idea comes out clearer when you say it. Say it as it comes, and DanDin types it into Claude, tidy.
Yes, you can write to Claude by voice in Arabic, in the Claude app for Mac and Windows and on claude.ai in your browser. Click in the message box, hold the start key, talk, and let go: your prompt is typed into the box, and you send it. Claude has a voice mode, and that is a different thing: a spoken chat where Claude answers out loud. DanDin is for writing: your words become text you read and fix before you send.
How to voice type in Claude
On a Mac
- Open the Claude app for Mac, or claude.ai in Safari or Chrome.
- Click in the typing box.
- If your idea is long and messy, pick "What I meant" in Dictation options before you start, so DanDin writes what you mean.
- Hold Fn and say your idea as it comes, then let go.
- Read the prompt, then send it.
On Windows
- Open the Claude app for Windows, or claude.ai in Chrome or Edge.
- Put the cursor in the message box.
- Hold Ctrl + Win and talk, then let go of both keys.
- If you want the prompt in English, turn on Translate to English in Dictation options, and speak Arabic.
An example in Claude
Asking Claude for a booking page, with "What I meant" on
You say
ok so I want a booking page like with name and phone no wait and email too and the customer picks the day and time and after booking they get a confirmation email I mean a text not an email
DanDin types
I need a booking page that collects the customer's name, phone number, and email address. The page should allow users to select a date and time for their appointment. Once the booking is complete, the system should send a confirmation via text message.
Claude’s voice tools or DanDin?
Claude has two voice tools: dictation, which types your words into the box, and voice mode, where you talk with Claude and it answers out loud. Here is what Anthropic’s own pages say about them, next to what DanDin does:
| DanDin | Claude’s voice tools | |
|---|---|---|
| Where dictation works | In Claude and every other app on Mac and Windows. No phone app | On the web, on mobile and in the desktop app, inside Claude [1] |
| Arabic in dictation | Arabic and English, with Arabic + English as the default mode | The mobile dictation page names 12 languages, and Arabic is not one of them [2] |
| Arabic in voice mode | DanDin does not talk back; it writes your words as text | The language list in Anthropic’s post (23 July 2026) does not name Arabic [3] |
| Picking the language | Works out the language of each sentence in Arabic + English | In voice mode it does not detect your language; you pick it [4] |
| Cost | Free for 2,000 words a week, then Pro | Voice mode is on every plan, and counts toward your usage limits [5] |
If you want to talk with Claude and hear it answer, in English or a language on its list, voice mode is on every plan and good for thinking out loud. If you want to write your prompt in Arabic, or mix Arabic and English, and read it before you send, DanDin is built for that.

Good to know in Claude
- DanDin types into the Claude box and never sends, and Claude’s answer comes back as text.
- DanDin does not read Claude’s answer out loud. For a spoken chat, use Claude’s voice mode.
- For Arabic speech, the instruction style works in the Claude app, and in a browser when the tab title has the word Claude in it.
- There is no DanDin phone app; it is for your computer only.
- It needs the internet. If the connection drops while you talk, the recording is saved on your computer, and one tap on Retry sends it again.
Common questions
Does Claude understand Arabic speech?
According to Anthropic’s pages (read 19 October 2026), the dictation language list for the phone app has no Arabic, and the voice mode language list in its post does not name it either. DanDin writes your Arabic speech into the box as text, and Claude reads it like any typed message.
What is the difference between voice mode and dictation?
Voice mode is a conversation: you talk and Claude answers out loud. Dictation is writing: your words become text in the box, and you read and fix it before you send. DanDin is dictation, and it works in Claude and in all your other apps.
What is "What I meant"?
A mode in Dictation options: you talk freely, ramble and correct yourself, and DanDin writes the idea you meant, clear and in order. It helps when you explain something long to Claude.
Does it work with Claude Code?
Yes. DanDin types into the Claude Code prompt in your terminal and in VS Code with the same key, and never presses Enter.
